Abstract This presentation clarifies the concept of a *digital twin*—a dynamic, data-driven virtual representation—distinguishing it from traditional 3D models, given the absence of a formal definition. It begins with an overview of the EPD’s Chemical Waste Treatment Center and this groundbreaking project, followed by a detailed walkthrough of creating a digital twin for a hazardous waste treatment plant. The process encompasses both existing facilities and new developments, highlighting key differences between Building Information Modeling (BIM) for environmental facilities versus typical buildings. The presentation showcases the features of the completed digital twin, supported by real-life usage examples that demonstrate its practical applications.
